Wilmiris and Victor are a Puerto Rican couple who chose Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, Florida for their engagement session, photographed by Acromatico just a few months before their wedding day. The shoot ran through real South Florida heat and humidity for a very romantic set of garden portraits.
With only a few months left until their big day, Acromatico photographed Wilmiris and Victor for their engagement session at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. The couple chose the garden for its lush, tropical setting, and the session leaned fully romantic across the grounds.
The shoot wasn't without its challenges: South Florida humidity, real heat, and more than a few ant piles underfoot. Even so, it was a genuinely enjoyable session with these two Puerto Rican sweethearts, ahead of the wedding day still to come.
“Despite the humidity, heat, and stepping on many ant piles, we truly enjoyed shooting these puertorican cuties.”
Good to know
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is an 83-acre botanic garden in Coral Gables, Florida, just south of Miami in the Coconut Grove–adjacent area near the Matheson Hammock area along Old Cutler Road. It's one of the largest tropical botanic gardens in the continental United States, known for its palm and cycad collections, tropical flowering trees, lakes, and open lawns, which give couples a wide range of green, water, and garden backdrops in a single location.
For engagement sessions and weddings, the garden's tropical density is its signature: dense foliage, shaded canopy walks, and bright open vistas all sit within walking distance of one another. South Florida's heat and humidity are real considerations year-round, so early-morning or late-afternoon light tends to be most comfortable for both the couple and the portraits. Photography access and any event use are arranged through the garden's own permitting and reservation policies, which couples should confirm directly with Fairchild.
