Jemma and Luke are an Irish-American couple who got engaged and had their engagement session photographed by Acromatico in Warwick, New York. Close friends of the studio, they planned the shoot overnight after Luke proposed — and pulled it off on a freezing but clear early-March day.
When Acromatico found out Luke had popped the question, the studio couldn't wait to shoot Jemma and Luke's engagement session in Warwick, New York. The two are great friends of ours and famously spontaneous — the entire session was planned overnight. All they said was where and when, and they were just there, no questions asked.
The forecast threatened rain and even snow, but neither showed up. Instead the day was clear and bitterly cold. In the photos it looks perfectly warm with a light breeze; in reality it was a freeze fest, with Jemma in particular taking on the cold while looking her best. Despite the cold and the hunger, the couple killed it, and their chemistry made the whole shoot worth every frozen toe.
“I seriously fell in love with them even more, realizing just how perfect of a match they are. Their chemistry level is beyond inspirational.”
Good to know
Warwick is a town in Orange County, New York, in the lower Hudson Valley about an hour and a half northwest of New York City. Surrounded by farmland, orchards, and rolling countryside in the Warwick Valley, it's a popular spot for couples who want a rural, natural backdrop within reach of the city rather than an urban skyline setting.
Because the valley sits inland and at elevation, conditions can run colder than nearby New York City — as Jemma and Luke discovered on their early-March session. Couples planning an engagement or wedding shoot here should account for the season: late spring through fall offers green fields and orchard color, while winter brings bare, dramatic landscapes and the real possibility of a deep freeze, so dress in layers you can shed between frames.
