Kenia and Michael, high school sweethearts now in college together, had their engagement session at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Coral Gables, Florida, in August 2014, photographed by Acromatico. Rained-out and rescheduled, the rebooked day turned out clear and gorgeous across the garden.
Kenia and Michael are high school sweethearts who are now going through their college years together in the same location. Their summer engagement session in South Florida had to be postponed because of the heavy rain that kept rolling in, but the rescheduled day came clear of ugly clouds and raindrops, and the couple chose to shoot at the beautiful Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.
Acromatico photographed the session and called it so much fun to shoot these two. At the time of the session, their wedding was still upcoming, planned for the end of the year, and the studio noted it was looking forward to photographing that day as well.
“Despite the storms, postponing, and heat, their engagement session was clear from ugly clouds and raindrops.”
Good to know
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is an 83-acre botanical garden located in Coral Gables, Florida, just south of Miami and adjacent to the village of Pinecrest. It is known for its extensive collections of palms, cycads, flowering trees, and tropical plants, along with lakes, lawns, and a rainforest area, which give engagement and wedding photographers a wide range of green, water, and open settings within a single property.
The garden sits near Matheson Hammock Park and Biscayne Bay in the Coral Gables area of Miami-Dade County. As Kenia and Michael's experience shows, summer in South Florida brings frequent afternoon rain and heat, so building a flexible date into the plan is wise. Acromatico is a family-run photography and brand studio founded in 2004, working across South Florida and New York City with a dark fine-art aesthetic, and photographs engagement sessions throughout the Miami area.
