Jamie and Michael are high school sweethearts who met at Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Florida, and Acromatico photographed their engagement session across two locations: the Cypress Bay High School campus where their story began, and nearby Southwest Ranches.
Jamie and Michael's love story started in high school at Cypress Bay High School, which is exactly why Acromatico made it the first stop of their engagement session — the place where the two first met. From there, the session moved to Southwest Ranches for a few more shots of these high school sweethearts.
Acromatico is a family-run photography and brand studio founded in 2004, working across South Florida and New York City. The Jamie and Michael engagement session, photographed on November 11, 2013, was made across these two South Florida locations, returning to where the couple's story first began before heading out to Southwest Ranches.
“Nothing like falling in love in high school — this is where Jamie and Michael's story hit off.”
Good to know
Southwest Ranches is a rural town in southwestern Broward County, Florida, west of Fort Lauderdale and bordering the Everglades. It is known for its large lots, equestrian properties, agricultural land, and deliberately low-density, country atmosphere — an unusual contrast to the dense suburbs around it. That open, green, semi-rural character makes it a distinctive backdrop for engagement photography within easy reach of the rest of South Florida.
Cypress Bay High School is a public high school in Weston, in western Broward County, just east of Southwest Ranches. Weston is a planned community near the edge of the Everglades, and the two locations sit close enough together that a couple's session can move between them in a single afternoon. For couples whose relationship is tied to a specific place — a school, a neighborhood, a hometown — building the session around that location, the way Jamie and Michael's began at the campus where they met, gives the photos a meaning no generic backdrop can.
