Have you ever dreamed of visiting a fairy-tale villa on the shores of a beautiful lake? That's exactly what we did when we went to Villa del Balbianello, one of the most marvelous places on Lake Como. We were fortunate enough to have our dear friends and gorgeous Artiles family join us for this unforgettable experience, and of course we couldn't miss the opportunity to capture some stunning photos of our happy moments together.
Villa del Balbianello is not just a regular villa. It is a movie star. This magnificent mansion has been featured in iconic films including Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and Casino Royale. As soon as we arrived, we felt transported to another world of fantasy, romance, and adventure. The breathtaking views of the lake and the mountains, the elegant architecture, and the lush garden made us feel like part of a movie ourselves.
We wanted our images to look like movie posters, with dramatic angles, vibrant colors, and expressive poses that show personality and emotion. We took photos from the lake, from the garden, from the loggia, and from inside the villa, recreating some scenes from the films and inventing some of our own. We made memories that will last forever, and we are so thankful for the friends who shared this experience with us.

View our photographyVilla del Balbianello sits on a wooded promontory of the Lavedo peninsula near the village of Lenno, on the western shore of Lake Como in Italy's Lombardy region. It is owned and managed by FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano, the Italian national trust) and is known for its terraced gardens, arched loggia and panoramic views of the lake and the surrounding Alps. The estate is famous as a filming location for Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Casino Royale.
The villa is open to the public from March to November and can be busy in peak season, so book your visit in advance online or by phone — at least a day ahead — and consider a guided tour to learn its history. The softest light comes early morning or late afternoon; midday sun is harsh, and weekends and holidays draw the largest crowds. The promontory is reached by land or water, and arriving by boat from nearby towns such as Lenno or Tremezzo adds both views and photo opportunities along the way. Inside the grounds, work the lake, garden, loggia and villa interiors for a mix of wide shots and close-ups.
