Geeta and Vir chose the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City for their engagement session, photographed by Acromatico. After their planned Mexico wedding for 300 guests shifted because of covid, the couple moved their celebration to New York, with their Indian wedding set for the end of the month.
"We were supposed to get married last month in Mexico, 300 people." Like so many couples, Geeta and Vir had to change their plans because of covid. Rather than stop, they moved forward with their wedding in New York, and chose Brooklyn for their engagement session. Acromatico met them early at the Brooklyn Bridge, where every runner, walker and New Yorker who passed by congratulated the two of them. Photographing through a mask meant guiding and yelling so they could hear, but the couple were patient and accommodating the whole way through.
Brooklyn is a special place for Geeta and Vir. It is where they celebrated their "supposed-to-be wedding day," and where they will spend their happily ever after. This engagement session comes just before their Indian wedding at the end of the month.
“Brooklyn is a special place for them, this is where they celebrated their "supposed-to-be wedding day" and also where they will be spending their happily ever after.”
Good to know
The Brooklyn Bridge spans the East River, connecting the borough of Brooklyn to Lower Manhattan in New York City. One of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States, it carries a dedicated pedestrian and bicycle promenade above the roadway, which is what makes it walkable for a photo session. The Brooklyn-side approach near DUMBO and Brooklyn Bridge Park puts the bridge towers, the Manhattan skyline and the waterfront all within a short walk of one another.
For couples planning a session here, arriving early as Geeta and Vir did is the single most useful tip: the promenade fills quickly with runners, walkers and tourists as the morning goes on. Early light also gives you the bridge and skyline with far fewer crowds in frame. The surrounding Brooklyn Bridge Park, the cobblestone streets of DUMBO and the river's edge offer backdrops within easy reach if you want variety beyond the bridge itself.
