Ashley and Brad are an engaged couple who flew from Chicago back to their hometown of Miami for an engagement session at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, the campus where they met. Acromatico, a family-run South Florida photography studio, photographed the session.
Ashley and Brad both flew from Chicago to Miami, their hometown, to take their engagement pictures at the University of Miami — the campus where they met. Photographing them there was special for the couple, who spent the session remembering all the things they did together on campus.
A huge storm caught everyone on the way to UM, raising worries that it would ruin the session. But south Florida weather turned: as soon as they arrived, the storm cleared, leaving a beautiful day at the beach to shoot. Acromatico had a great time with them and looks forward to their upcoming wedding day.
“In one second you can have the perfect storm, and the next you're enjoying the most beautiful day at the beach.”
Good to know
The University of Miami's main campus sits in Coral Gables, a city in Miami-Dade County known for its tree-lined streets, Mediterranean Revival architecture, and proximity to Biscayne Bay. The campus is built around Lake Osceola and is a short drive from both downtown Miami and the beaches of the Atlantic coast, which makes it a flexible base for couples who want both campus landmarks and waterfront scenery in a single session.
For couples planning their own University of Miami engagement session, the south Florida climate is the variable to plan around: summer afternoons can swing from a sudden storm to clear skies within minutes, so building in flexibility — and a willingness to wait out a passing storm — often pays off, as it did for Ashley and Brad.
Acromatico is a family-run photography and brand studio founded in 2004, working across South Florida and New York City with a dark, fine-art aesthetic. Sessions like this one — returning to the place a couple's story began — are a natural fit for engagement and wedding photography in the Coral Gables and greater Miami area.
