Veronica and James chose Anglin's Fishing Pier in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida, for their sunrise engagement session, a spot that touches their heart and where James proposed on his knees. Acromatico, a family-run South Florida and New York City studio since 2004, photographed it at 5am for the early light.
Acromatico photographed Veronica and James's engagement session at Anglin's Fishing Pier in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida, starting at 5am to catch the sunrise. The couple chose the pier specifically because it is a place that touches their heart, the same spot where James got down on his knees to propose and Veronica said yes. The morning sun was magnificent and the sea peaceful, and Veronica knew exactly how to work the camera.
This session was an engagement shoot, with the couple's wedding still ahead at the time it was photographed. For Acromatico it remains one of their favorite sessions, capturing the tropical, relaxed feel of South Florida without leaving the state.
“It is a gem in the rough and capturing your images in the sunrise time is the perfect time to grab those gorgeous sunrise colors.”
Good to know
Anglin's Fishing Pier sits in the heart of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, a small beach town in Broward County, Florida, just north of Fort Lauderdale along State Road A1A. The pier extends into the Atlantic from the town's commercial district and is a longtime local landmark, surrounded by shops, restaurants, and direct beach access. The shoreline here is part of a designated Shore-Dive snorkel area, with a natural reef close to the beach.
As Acromatico found on this session, early morning is the ideal window for photos at the pier. Shooting at sunrise grabs the gorgeous warm colors over the water, and with less heat and far fewer people on the sand, a couple can enjoy the session without fighting the daytime crowds that gather in this walkable beach town.
