Jessica and Kiran's engagement session took place at The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour in Miami, Florida, photographed by Acromatico. The original beachfront plan was scrapped when an early tornado warning brought strong winds and heavy rain, so the shoot moved inside the hotel ahead of their upcoming wedding.
Jessica and Kiran flew all the way to Miami to have their engagement photos taken with us at The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour. The original plan was to shoot at the beautiful beach the hotel has out front, but a tornado warning came earlier in the day, and the strong winds and uncontrollable rain made that impossible. When clients travel that far, you make it happen no matter what, so we quickly adapted and improvised, moving the session inside the hotel. The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour is so beautiful that it easily became a good trade.
This was a return to familiar ground for us. We used to be next-door neighbors with this hotel a few years ago, before babies, and it brings back so many beautiful memories. Jessica and Kiran, you guys were amazing, and we can't wait until your wedding day.
“What do you do when your clients fly all the way to Miami just to have their photos done with you? You make them happen no matter what.”
Good to know
The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour sits in the Village of Bal Harbour at the northern tip of Miami Beach, in Miami-Dade County, Florida, fronting the Atlantic Ocean just across Collins Avenue from the Bal Harbour Shops. Its location gives couples both a private beachfront and refined interior architecture in one property — which matters in South Florida, where the weather can change fast.
As Jessica and Kiran's session showed, Bal Harbour's oceanfront exposure means tropical wind and rain can arrive with little warning. A venue like the Ritz-Carlton, with photogenic interiors as well as a beach, gives a photographer somewhere to pivot when conditions turn. If you're booking a Bal Harbour engagement or wedding shoot, it's worth planning for an indoor backup from the start.
