Youmee and Andre were married at The Kampong, a historic botanical garden in Coconut Grove, Miami, Florida — a wedding that joined her Korean and his Brazilian families. Acromatico, a family-run South Florida and New York photography studio working since 2004, photographed the day.
It is not every day that people from opposite sides of the world meet, fall in love, and marry. Youmee and Andre brought together two different worlds — Korea and Brazil — at The Kampong in Coconut Grove. By Acromatico's account it was a laid-back celebration where, no matter the language or the culture, love found a way; the two were clearly crazy for each other, evident in the way they looked at one another.
As the studio put it, Korea and Brazil can definitely party. Acromatico, family-run and working across South Florida and New York City since 2004, shared its favorites from this Coconut Grove wedding through its dark fine-art Brand Studio lens.
“No matter the language, nor the culture, love always finds a way.”
Good to know
The Kampong is a historic botanical garden in the Coconut Grove neighborhood of Miami, Florida, set along Biscayne Bay. It is one of five gardens of the National Tropical Botanical Garden and the only one located in the continental United States, originally the home and plant collection of horticulturist David Fairchild. Its tropical canopy, flowering trees, and bayfront grounds make it a quietly dramatic setting for an intimate wedding rather than a large ballroom affair.
Coconut Grove is one of Miami's oldest neighborhoods, walkable and shaded, with the bay on one side and the village center on the other. Couples drawn to The Kampong tend to want the garden itself to carry the day, which rewards a photography approach built around natural light, deep greens, and the contrast of a dark, fine-art treatment. For multicultural weddings like Youmee and Andre's, the garden's open-air layout gives families room to gather and celebrate together.
