Ruth and Joel's engagement session took place at sunrise in South Pointe Park, on the southern tip of Miami Beach, Florida. Acromatico photographed the couple early on a summer Sunday, starting at 6:30AM to catch fresher weather and thinner crowds before the heat set in.
Ruth and Joel met Acromatico for an early-morning engagement session at South Pointe Park in Miami, beginning at 6:30AM on a summer Sunday. Photographing at that hour in the summer felt completely different: the weather was fresher, the park was less crowded, and the light made for more pictures.
By the end of the session, though, the Miami summer had its say. It got so hot that Ruth and Joel ended up getting soaked — literally — closing out the shoot drenched and laughing rather than wilting in the midday sun.

Good to know
South Pointe Park sits at the southernmost tip of South Beach, where Miami Beach meets Government Cut and the Atlantic Ocean. The waterfront park's open lawns, jetty walkway, and clear sightlines toward the cruise channel make it a favorite spot for engagement and portrait photography, and its eastern exposure means the sun rises straight out over the water.
As Ruth and Joel's session proved, timing is everything here in summer. An early start — around 6:30AM, near sunrise — buys you softer light, fresher air, and far fewer people on the paths and lawns. Wait too long and the South Florida heat builds fast; come prepared to move quickly, hydrate, and embrace the possibility that the ocean (or your own sweat) becomes part of the story.
