The Giacaman family maternity session took place at Robbins Park in Davie, Florida, photographed by Acromatico ahead of the arrival of baby girl Gabriela — the first baby girl of the family. A last-minute location switch after rain turned into a green, country-style backdrop with barn fences and donkeys.
This was one of the most special sessions of the year for Acromatico: the photographers' own sister and brother welcoming another baby into their family of three, and the very awaited maternity session for the first baby girl of the family — baby Gabriela, coming soon. The day nearly didn't happen, with an 80% chance of rain that delivered, and the originally planned park closing for the day.
Determined not to back out, the family found Robbins Park in Davie at the last minute, and it exceeded expectations. Full of green open areas, barn-style fences, and even cute donkeys, the park was a home run for a country-looking maternity session.
“We ended up going to Robbins Park in Davie and it was a home run — full of green open areas, barn style fences and even cute donkeys.”
Good to know
Robbins Park is a public park located in the Town of Davie in Broward County, South Florida. Davie is known for its rural, equestrian character — one of the few towns in the densely developed South Florida region to preserve large open green spaces, barns, and a country atmosphere within easy reach of Fort Lauderdale. That setting is exactly what makes the area work for the kind of green, country-style backdrop this maternity session used: open fields, wood and barn-style fencing, and a relaxed, outdoor-Florida feel.
For families considering a maternity or family session in Davie, the town's parkland offers an alternative to the beach and urban looks more common across South Florida. As a family-run studio working across South Florida and New York City since 2004, Acromatico brings a dark fine-art "Brand Studio" approach to outdoor sessions like this one, and — as this day proved — a willingness to adapt the plan when South Florida weather refuses to cooperate.
