Jamie and Alex were married in Key West, Florida, at the Pier House Resort & Spa, photographed by Acromatico. The couple, a doctor and a dancer, traveled from Chicago with 40 family and friends. They got ready at Santa Maria Suites and held their ceremony at St. Mary's Church.
Jamie and Alex came all the way from Chicago, along with 40 of their family and friends, for their destination wedding in Key West, Florida. The day began with getting ready at Santa Maria Suites, followed by a ceremony at St. Mary's Church and a reception at the Pier House Resort & Spa. The wedding went forward despite the recent impact of Hurricane Irma on the Keys.
Acromatico spent the day learning how dedicated this doctor and dancer are to the work they each love. Among the vendors who made the day possible were Pier House Spa for hair, Cakes by Carol for the cake, and Old Town Trolley for transportation.
“A conch can't drown with water — this is very true about the Keys!”
Good to know
The Pier House Resort & Spa sits at the foot of Duval Street in Old Town Key West, Florida, on the Gulf side of the island, with private beach frontage facing the harbor. Its location at the northern end of Duval puts couples within walking distance of the cruise port, Mallory Square, and the heart of Key West's historic district, making it a practical home base for destination weddings where guests travel in from out of state.
Key West is the southernmost city in the continental United States and the seat of Monroe County, reached by the Overseas Highway (US-1) at the end of the Florida Keys. Couples planning a Key West wedding often pair a resort reception with nearby landmarks: St. Mary Star of the Sea (St. Mary's Church), the Old Town Trolley for guest transportation, and Old Town's historic streets for portraits. Because the island is compact, getting-ready suites, churches, and waterfront reception venues are typically only minutes apart.
