Katia and Matteo were married on the Adriatic Coast of Abruzzo, Italy, in a traditional Italian wedding that ran from noon to midnight. Acromatico, a family-run photography studio, traveled to Italy to photograph the couple, whom they had previously shot for an engagement session.
When Katia and Matteo invited Acromatico to Italy for their wedding, the studio said yes, glad to return to the Adriatic Coast of Abruzzo after missing Italy for a while. The couple were already familiar faces from their earlier engagement session, and here they were officially married.
This turned into one of the studio's biggest posts. Italian weddings last from noon to midnight, with hour after hour of homemade traditional plates, eating and partying, and Acromatico couldn't contain their clicks shooting the couple. An after session was still to come. Auguri, Katia e Matteo.
“If you didn't know, Italian weddings last from noon to midnight and you get tons and tons of delicious home-made traditional plates, so it's hour after hour of eating and partying.”
Good to know
Abruzzo is a region in central Italy whose eastern edge runs along the Adriatic Sea, giving it a long coastline of beach towns and seaside communities. Inland, the region is dominated by the Apennine Mountains, including the Gran Sasso and Maiella massifs protected within national parks, so couples marrying here can pair coast and mountains within a short drive.
As Katia and Matteo's day showed, a traditional Italian wedding in this part of the country can stretch from noon all the way to midnight, built around course after course of homemade regional cooking. If you are planning a wedding here, build your photography timeline around that long arc rather than a compressed Northern-American reception, and leave room for the meal itself, which is a central part of the celebration.
