Ashley and Matt held their destination wedding at the Postcard Inn in Islamorada, Florida, traveling from Texas with family and friends who flew in from across the country. Acromatico photographed the ceremony and reception, including Ashley's grand entrance arriving by water jet.
Ashley and Matt first met on a date in San Diego, and they have been inseparable ever since. For their wedding they came down to Islamorada all the way from Texas, with family and friends following them to the Florida Keys from all over the country. Their ceremony and reception were both held at the Postcard Inn in Islamorada, Florida — a destination wedding location they made their own, right down to bringing their dog, Piper, who walked the wedding too.
Acromatico photographed this laid-back couple and everyone who came to celebrate with them. One of the day's standout moments was Ashley's grand entrance: she arrived by water jet, which we were able to fly in and capture as she made her way to the celebration.
“We also enjoyed so much being able to fly in a water jet and shoot Ashley as she made her grand entrance.”
Good to know
The Postcard Inn Beach Resort sits in Islamorada, a village of islands in the Upper Florida Keys, roughly midway along the Overseas Highway (US-1) between Key Largo and Marathon. Its location on Holiday Isle gives couples a private beach setting on the Atlantic side of the Keys, which makes it a popular choice for destination weddings where most guests are traveling in.
Islamorada is about an hour and a half to two hours' drive from Miami International Airport, the closest major airport, so building in travel time for out-of-state guests is worth it. Because the Keys are a string of islands connected by a single highway, an on-site resort venue like the Postcard Inn lets a wedding party stay, get ready, hold the ceremony, and celebrate at the reception all in one place — convenient when family and friends are flying in from across the country, as Ashley and Matt's did.
