AI Share of Voice

Definition

AI share of voice is the proportion of AI-generated answers about a topic or category in which a given brand is mentioned, compared with competitors. It quantifies how much of the conversation inside assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity a brand owns versus its rivals.

Traditional share of voice measured ad impressions or search rankings; the AI version measures presence inside model answers. For a set of category prompts, you count how often each brand surfaces. A high AI share of voice means an assistant repeatedly names you when users explore your space, shaping demand before a click ever happens.

Acromatico tracks this metric competitively, running identical prompt sets across assistants and tallying brand appearances. The resulting scoreboard exposes who dominates the AI narrative, where a brand is losing ground, and which content and entity improvements shift the balance toward a client over time.

Questions people ask

How is AI share of voice calculated?

Define a representative set of category prompts, run them across the assistants you care about, and count brand mentions per prompt. Your share is your mentions divided by all brand mentions across the set, tracked over time to reveal competitive movement.

How does it differ from AI visibility?

AI visibility describes whether and how often you appear in AI answers overall. AI share of voice is comparative, framing your presence as a percentage against competitors for the same prompts, so it shows dominance within a category rather than raw presence alone.
