Vanessa and Jordan chose Southwest Ranches, Florida for a casual after-wedding portrait session photographed by Acromatico — and got closer to the horses than anyone expected. Instead of wedding attire, the already-married couple dressed down, leaned into their country side, and let the rural setting do its thing.
This after-wedding session was lots of fun. Acromatico expected to get some kind of horse background, but not to come this close to the horses themselves. Shooting Vanessa and Jordan was a blast, and a little country came out of these two in the process.
Rather than returning to their wedding attire for the portraits, the couple did something completely different — they dressed casual and totally rocked it. Thanks to Vanessa and Jordan for putting up with the studio, doing all kinds of things, and tolerating the not-so-pleasant smells that come with being around horses.
“It was a blast shooting Vanessa and Jordan and seeing a little country come out of these two.”
Good to know
Southwest Ranches is a town in Broward County, Florida, west of Fort Lauderdale and bordering Pembroke Pines and Davie. Unlike most of built-up South Florida, it was incorporated specifically to protect a rural, low-density way of life — large lots, dirt and bridle paths, and a strong equestrian culture make horse properties a normal sight here, which is exactly what makes it a natural backdrop for a country-leaning portrait session like this one.
For couples planning a horse or ranch-style shoot in the area, the town's agricultural and equestrian character is the draw: open land, mature trees, and easy access to live animals close to home. As a family-run South Florida and New York City studio working since 2004, Acromatico is comfortable shooting in these informal, animal-present settings, where the schedule bends to the horses as much as to the couple.
