The Scovino family — Kathy, Francisco, and daughters Francesca and Valentina — were photographed by Acromatico at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park on Key Biscayne, Florida, in a relaxed outdoor family session. Photographer Ale had known Kathy and Francisco for years before the shoot.
Acromatico photographer Ale used to work with Kathy and Francisco back when photography was still a side job, and the two families had been planning a session together for that long before it finally happened. For the shoot they went to Key Biscayne, all the way down to Bill Baggs park, with daughters Francesca and Valentina.
Ale recalls the girls were always laughing and playing around, which made the day easy — it felt less like working and more like a Sunday family fun day. The images here are a few favorites from that afternoon.
“It felt like we were just shooting a Sunday family fun day instead of working.”
Good to know
Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park sits at the southern tip of Key Biscayne, a barrier island village south of downtown Miami reached by the Rickenbacker Causeway. The 400-plus-acre Florida state park occupies the very end of the key, beyond the neighborhoods of Crandon Park, and is best known for the historic Cape Florida Lighthouse, beaches facing the Atlantic, and stands of palms and sea grapes — all of which give family sessions here open sky, water, and natural shade.
Because it is a state park, an entry fee is collected per vehicle at the gate, and the park keeps posted daily hours from morning until sundown. Families planning a session here often pair it with the lighthouse grounds and the shoreline; the south-end location means soft late-afternoon light off the water. Acromatico is a family-run photography and brand studio founded in 2004, working across South Florida and New York City with a dark fine-art "Brand Studio" aesthetic, and Key Biscayne is an easy reach from Miami for outdoor family work like this.
