Kathy and Vince's New York City engagement session unfolded in DUMBO, Brooklyn, just a month before their wedding. Completely unplanned, the day turned warm and gloomy enough for moody photos, with a mid-session pizza stop at Front Street Pizza fueling the laughter.
As soon as Vince popped the question, we knew we needed to start planning this New York City engagement session ASAP. We tried to pick the perfect spots, the sunniest day, the clearest skies, warm-ish weather and city enough but everyone knows how that goes. Sometimes making no plans is better than planning everything to the tee.
As we got on the highway and saw the Brooklyn sign, all I heard was: “we decided on Brooklyn, right?” Yes, we did. So off to DUMBO we went. The day couldn't have turned around more beautiful since we actually had a warm day in NYC. It didn't rain but got gloomy, which gave us all the feels and moods.
What I love most about Kathy and Vince is that they truly complement each other. They go with the flow, as long as they can have a slice of pizza in between we literally stopped for pizza in the middle of the session. Big shout out to Front Street Pizza for feeding us. After being almost semi hangry, stuffing our faces with pizza, nearly breaking Vince's prescription sunglasses, and laughter after laughter, we made it. This Dumbo engagement session is definitely one for the books.

Good to know
Whether your heart is set on DUMBO's cobblestone streets and Brooklyn Bridge views, or you'd rather go with the flow and let the day surprise you (pizza stop included), we'd love to capture your New York City engagement session. The best sessions are the unplanned, yolo ones full of real laughter.
View our photographyDUMBO — short for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass — is a waterfront neighborhood in northwestern Brooklyn, New York City, between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges. Its cobblestone streets, converted warehouses, and the famous view of the Manhattan Bridge framed at the end of Washington Street make it one of the most recognizable backdrops in the city for engagement and couples sessions.
The neighborhood sits along the East River beside Brooklyn Bridge Park, with Manhattan skyline views across the water and easy access to the Brooklyn Bridge itself. Front Street, where Front Street Pizza is located, runs through the heart of the area — handy for the kind of pizza break Kathy and Vince worked into their shoot. Gloomy, overcast light (like the day of this session) can actually work in a couple's favor here, softening the cobblestones and bridge steel for moodier frames.
