Key Largo is the first and northernmost island in the Florida Keys chain, in Monroe County, reached from the mainland by the Overseas Highway (U.S. Highway 1) roughly an hour south of Miami. It is the closest Keys destination to South Florida, which makes it a popular choice for couples and guests traveling down from the Miami area.
Key Largo is widely known as the "Diving Capital of the World" and is home to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the first undersea park in the United States, which protects a stretch of coral reef just offshore. For wedding photography, the island offers shoreline, mangroves, and clear Atlantic and bay-side water, with the long Keys sunsets that come from a narrow island surrounded by open horizon on both sides.
