Melissa and Brian married in an intimate destination wedding at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park in Key West, Florida, then headed to Mallory Square for sunset before dinner at the Conch Republic with their families. Acromatico, a family-run South Florida and New York City studio, photographed the day.
Melissa and Brian, who met online and brought their two worlds together when New York met Florida, chose Key West for an intimate destination wedding and came down to the Keys with their families. Their friends from Key West Wedding Day handled the ceremony at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, where the views felt closer to the Caribbean than the continental U.S. The couple, parents to Periwinkle, were such a natural match that even they say it feels like they have known each other all their lives.
After soaking up Fort Zachary, Melissa and Brian wanted a touch of Key West proper, so the day moved to Mallory Square, roosters and all, to catch the sun going down. They ended the night celebrating with their families over dinner at the Conch Republic. Acromatico, a family-run photography and brand studio working since 2004, was there to document it.
“It was the sweetest, funnest, intimate wedding we've ever been to.”
Good to know
Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park sits at the southern tip of Key West, Florida, the last island in the Florida Keys chain reachable by car via the Overseas Highway. The park is a Florida State Park built around a 19th-century brick fort, and its beach faces the open water where the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic meet, which is why ceremonies here can feel more like the islands of the Caribbean than the mainland.
Mallory Square anchors the waterfront at the western edge of Old Town Key West and is the island's traditional gathering spot to watch the sun set over the water. It pairs naturally with a Fort Zachary ceremony: the state park for vows and beach light, then a short hop into the heart of town for golden-hour and sunset portraits. Couples planning a Key West wedding often build the day around both, with a Duval Street area dinner to close the night.
