Brittany and Travis photographed a family session at Fort De Soto in St. Petersburg, Florida with Acromatico, the family-run South Florida and New York City studio that first captured their wedding years earlier. After moving north and growing to a family of four, they invited the studio back to document their two kids.
Acromatico first met Brittany and Travis years ago when the studio captured their wedding here in South Florida. After they moved up north, a surprise email from Brittany arrived a few months before this session: they now had two kids and wanted a family session at Fort De Soto in St. Petersburg. For a studio that loves to travel and loves when couples call back years later to keep covering their life's moments, it was a no-brainer.
The day ran extremely windy and cold by sunny South Florida standards, but Brittany and Travis were troopers and made it a breeze to capture these images. Watching this family grow — and seeing the bond and connection they've built over the years — is part of why returning to photograph the same couple again means so much to the studio.

Fort De Soto Park sits at the southern tip of Pinellas County in St. Petersburg, Florida, spread across five interconnected islands (keys) in the mouth of Tampa Bay. As a Pinellas County park, it pairs historic coastal-defense fortifications with miles of Gulf-facing beach, fishing piers, mangrove shoreline and sea oats — a wide range of natural backdrops within a single location, which is part of what makes it a draw for family and portrait photography.
Because the park faces open water at the bay's mouth, conditions can shift quickly: it can be breezy and cool even when inland South Florida is warm, so families planning a session here should dress in layers and check tide and weather before heading out. Golden hour along the western beaches tends to offer the softest light.
