Dawn and Terry married in Destin, Florida, in an intimate Star Wars-themed beach wedding photographed by Acromatico, the family-run South Florida and New York City studio. The four-hour celebration on Destin's crystal-clear white-sand coast gathered only family and close friends.
Acromatico flew out to Destin, Florida to photograph Dawn and Terry's wedding day, finally meeting the couple in person. The ceremony was Star Wars themed, with every guest holding their own lightsaber thanks to a groom who is a serious Star Wars fan and his very supportive bride. In a short time the studio got to know the couple's dynamic, with Terry quick to make Dawn laugh.
The whole day was captured in just four hours. Although the sunset escaped them on the beach, the ceremony stayed fun and simple, kept to family and intimate friends. After the wedding, Dawn and Terry left for their honeymoon in Puerto Rico.
“This "lit" ceremony was so fun and simple with just family and intimate friends.”
Good to know
Destin sits on Florida's Emerald Coast in the state's Panhandle, between Pensacola and Panama City Beach along the Gulf of Mexico. It is best known for its sugar-white quartz sand and clear, calm water, which is what draws couples here for beach ceremonies and elopements. As the studio put it, Destin combines a little bit of Mexico, Naples and Key West in one place.
Travelers fly into Destin from across the US for both the lively scene and the quiet stretches of shoreline, and the area is reachable through Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport. For an open-air beach wedding, light matters: the sun sets over the Gulf to the west, so couples hoping to time vows with sunset should build in buffer, since the light can move faster than expected on the water. Beyond the sand, the surrounding towns offer food trucks and walkable, European-style village districts for guests to enjoy around the celebration.
