Carolina + Hector · Gasparilla Island Engagement | Boca Grande, FL

We've known Carolina for years — a dear friend, a gifted hairstylist, and a wonderful mom — so when she asked us to photograph her engagement to Hector on Gasparilla Island, it never felt like a job. It felt like family.

Some sessions are work. This one was pure joy. We've known Carolina for years — her son Derek and our kids are the best of friends, and through them we've built a beautiful friendship that's only grown season after season. So watching her find Hector, the one she gets to spend the rest of her life with, has meant the world to us. When she thought of us to capture this chapter and these memories, we felt completely honored — and so happy to see Derek there, right in the middle of it all.

More than a photo session, it felt like an afternoon with friends. We laughed, we slowed down, and we let Carolina and Hector simply be in love. We leaned into the creative and the unguarded, chasing the quiet bond between them — the way they lean into each other, the way they look at one another when they think no one's watching. It's a privilege to photograph people you love, and it shows in every frame.

And there's no place quite like Gasparilla Island for it. The barrier island wrapped around Boca Grande on Florida's Gulf Coast turns soft and golden in the evening light, with quiet, uncrowded white-sand beaches and that unmistakable old-Florida charm — banyan-shaded streets, the historic 1890s Boca Grande Lighthouse, and the Gulf stretching out forever. For an engagement session, the island's slow, unhurried pace is everything: it gives a couple room to relax and be themselves, and lets the realness rise to the surface. For Carolina and Hector, it was the perfect backdrop for the start of forever.

“More than a photo session, it felt like an afternoon with friends — capturing two people who are clearly meant for one another.”
