Photography I — The Eye: what a parent actually gets

Photography I — The Eye is 16 sessions and 24 instructional hours in Sep–Oct for $300. The student composes on purpose. Assessment is eight field missions shot outside class, decisions they can explain, one reshoot after critique, and a sequenced portfolio of twelve original photographs. First named course in the Scool year.

What is Photography I — The Eye?

It is the first of six named courses in a Sep–Aug year. Not a subscription with a vague library. A scholarship desk, a homeschool log, or a parent who wants hours on paper can read the line: 16 sessions, 24 instructional hours, studio course in photographic composition.

We built it that way on purpose. A monthly membership does not give a desk a course name, session count, and hours. A named course does.

What does the student have to turn in?

• Eight field missions, each shot outside class
• Composition decisions they can explain in their own words
• At least one photograph reshot after critique
• Final portfolio: twelve original photographs, sequenced

Inside the weeks the cycle is The Eye, The Light, The Story, The Share — composition, timing, narrative, then how the set is shown. Situations on the board make that concrete: a problem, a play, a scout-or-field choice, a debrief, a close. Ninety-six of those across the year. This course is the first sixteen.

How is this different from the $116 Academy seats?

Academy ages 7–9, 10–12, and 13–14 are $116 seats on the shorter academy catalog. Photography I is the year-course at $300 with the transcript line above. Family bundles exist if more than one student in the house is enrolling (two students $198, three $267, four or more $316). Pick the line that matches how you need to show the work.

Scool Studio ($325) is the live-session membership with field missions and a live portfolio site. It is a different product from Photography I. Pricing keeps them on separate shelves so nobody buys the wrong one.

Is this approved for a Florida scholarship?

We do not claim a scholarship board has approved this course. We built the record a board usually asks for: name, sessions, hours, rubric. If you need that paperwork, start from the course line on pricing and ask us for the description as written. Do not treat this article as an approval letter.

A subscription is a feed. A course is a record.

What should we do before paying?

Play a situation. It is the same room the year uses. Then open pricing and take Photography I if you want Sep–Oct named. The $30 trial class and the first month are refundable — email [email protected]. We have not taught a live cohort yet; we will not pretend we have.
